Cold Gas Plasma Induces Platelet Activation and Hemostasis in Native and Anticoagulated Human Blood

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Cold physical gas plasma induces platelet activation and hemostatic responses in native and anticoagulated human blood. Treatment efficacy depends on plasma parameters, including gas composition, distance, and exposure mode, which govern reactive species delivery and energy transfer.

Methane emissions from the littoral zone of Poyang lake during drawdown periods

open access: yesJournal of Freshwater Ecology, 2019
Several studies have shown that lake littoral zones often support high methane (CH4) emissions. In this study, we measured CH4 emissions from two vegetation meadows in the littoral zone of Poyang Lake, China, from October 2014 to May 2015.

Megacylops viridis Jurine, abyssal form in Lake Maggiore. [Translation of: Memorie dell'Istituto Italiano di Idrobiologia Dott.Marco de Marchi 17 57-79, 1964] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
Megacyclops viridis Jurine, noticed in Lago Maggiore in 1912 by De Marchi from the littoral vegetation of Pallanza, is a normal member of the littoral plankton of the lake.

Changes in the juvenile fish assemblage of a Mediterranean shallow Posidonia oceanica seagrass nursery area after half a century [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The within-year dynamics of the juvenile fish community in a shallow seagrass-dominated nursery habitat (Posidonia oceanica) in a Mediterranean bay were compared between two surveys separated by 50 years (1960 and 2012-2013).

Phytoplankton of the littoral zone of Lake Baikal

open access: yesLimnology and Freshwater Biology
The study considers species composition, abundance, biomass of littoral phytoplankton of Lake Baikal in the spring (late May-early June) and autumn (late September) periods of 2017-2022. The study stations were located along the perimeter of the lake every 30-50 km.

The Effect of Sintering Flue Gas Composition on NO Reduction in Coke

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The strategy of substituting combustion air with sintering flue gas in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) systems provides a low‐cost and highly efficient approach for the purification of sintering off‐gas. In this work, coke was employed as the reducing agent, and a high‐temperature vertical tube furnace was used to simulate the dense‐phase ...

Real‐time monitoring of root dielectric properties for assessing crop plant damage caused by foliar application of glyphosate

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise There is a knowledge gap regarding how foliar injury and restricted water uptake can be detected by measuring root dielectric response. This pot study nondestructively evaluated the efficiency of real‐time dielectric measurement to monitor the effects of glyphosate spraying.

Morphological and morphometric aspects of the equine aortic valve: New insights for comparative studies in mammals

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract New data on the equine aortic valve obtained using advanced techniques is especially important given the greater availability of animal models for translational research. Here we characterized the morphological and morphometric aspects of the equine aortic valve from 60 healthy hearts collected at equine abattoirs.

Some aquatic Tardigrada from Bjørnøya (Svalbard)

open access: yesFauna Norvegica, 1988
Samples collected from the littoral zone of some freshwater bodies near Norskehamna, showed 8 species of Tardigrades. Of these, 7 are new records for Bjørnøya and 2 are new for Svalbard.
