A New Ridge-Type Estimator for the Linear Regression Model: Simulations and Applications

open access: yesScientifica, 2020
The ridge regression-type (Hoerl and Kennard, 1970) and Liu-type (Liu, 1993) estimators are consistently attractive shrinkage methods to reduce the effects of multicollinearity for both linear and nonlinear regression models.

Zero-variance zero-bias quantum Monte Carlo estimators of the spherically and system-averaged pair density [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We construct improved quantum Monte Carlo estimators for the spherically- and system-averaged electron pair density (i.e. the probability density of finding two electrons separated by a relative distance u), also known as the spherically-averaged ...

An integrated approach to global synchronization and state estimation for nonlinear singularly perturbed complex networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper aims to establish a unified framework to handle both the exponential synchronization and state estimation problems for a class of nonlinear singularly perturbed complex networks (SPCNs).

The Generalized Spectral Kurtosis Estimator

open access: yes, 2010
Due to its conceptual simplicity and its proven effectiveness in real-time detection and removal of radio frequency interference (RFI) from radio astronomy data, the Spectral Kurtosis (SK) estimator is likely to become a standard tool of a new generation

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A New Liu Type of Estimator for the Restricted SUR Estimator

open access: yesJournal of Modern Applied Statistical Methods, 2020
A new Liu type of estimator for the seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) models is proposed that may be used when estimating the parameters vector in the presence of multicollinearity if the it is suspected to belong to a linear subspace. The dispersion matrices and the mean squared error (MSE) are derived.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Two Classes of Almost Unbiased Type Principal Component Estimators in Linear Regression Model

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
This paper is concerned with the parameter estimator in linear regression model. To overcome the multicollinearity problem, two new classes of estimators called the almost unbiased ridge-type principal component estimator (AURPCE) and the almost unbiased

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
