Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Relationship between liver function tests and thyroid hormones in thyroid disorders

open access: yesNigerian Postgraduate Medical Journal, 2013
Aims and Objectives: To evaluated the effect of thyroid dysfunction on liver function tests and if there is any correlation between them. Materials and methods: A total of 68 subjects (40 hyperthyroid and 28 hypothyroid) between the ages of 20-60 years ...

Pemafibrate Dramatically Ameliorated the Values of Liver Function Tests and Fibrosis Marker in Patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease [PDF]

open access: yes
[Background] Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver disease related to metabolic syndrome, which can progress to liver cirrhosis. Standard medication has not been established.

Clinical utility of 13C-liver-function breath tests for assessment of hepatic function

open access: yes, 2013
13C-Liver-function breath tests have been used in clinical diagnostics and, to a limited extent, to investigate hepatic function. From a practical perspective, tests such as the 13C-aminopyrine and 13C-methacetin breath tests are simple to administer ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

A Real-World Retrospective Cohort Study on the Clinical Effect of Silymarin (Legalon) on Liver Damage and Diseases Using a Domestic Multicenter Common Data Model

open access: yesGut and Liver
Background/Aims : Silymarin has been reported to be hepatoprotective and to improve liver function; however, its clinical effectiveness in specific liver diseases remains unclear.

Liver transplantation in primary biliary cirrhosis: Risk assessment and 11-year follow-up [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Background/Aims: Liver transplantation (LTx) is the only established treatment in patients with end-stage primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). Although short-term survival after LTx in this group of patients is usually good, few data exist on the long-term ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Chemokine levels are associated with elevated liver function tests.

open access: yes, 2014
Lyme patients were separated into two populations based on normal (n = 24) vs. elevated liver enzyme tests (n = 20) and the levels of CXCL10 (Panel A), CXCL9 (Panel B) and CXCL10 (Panel C) compared at three visits (pre-treatment, post-treatment, and 6 ...
