From Large-Scale Characterization to Subgroup-Specific Predictive Modeling: A Study on the Diagnostic Value of Liver Stiffness Measurements in Focal Liver Lesions

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: As a noninvasive indicator of liver fibrosis and stiffness, liver stiffness measurement (LSM) has also shown significant value in differentiating focal liver lesions (FLLs).

Feasibility and reliability of the FibroScan S2 (pediatric) probe compared with the M probe for liver stiffness measurement in small adults with chronic liver disease

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2013
Background. The success of liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by transient elastography (TE, FibroScan) is influenced by anthropometric factors. In smaller adults, the M probe may fail due to narrow intercostal spaces and rib interference.

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

3D Bioprinted Glioblastoma Multiforme Models: How the Extracellular Matrix Glycosignature Influences Drug Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aberrant glycosylation in the glioblastoma tumor microenvironment drives therapeutic resistance. Here, a 3D bioprinted model was engineered by incorporating α‐NeuNAc‐(2→3)‐β‐D‐Gal‐ and chondroitin sulfate. Combined multiplex immunofluorescence and synchrotron‐based nanoCT analysis revealed that glycan‐matrix interactions dictate specific drug‐escape ...

Status of liver stiffness following directly acting antiviral treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis C: A Nepalese study

open access: yesJournal of College of Medical Sciences-Nepal, 2017
Background & Objectives:Chronic hepatitis C is one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease in our country. With the introduction of directly acting antivirals, many patients are benefitted these days. Transient elastography is one of the newer

Mechanical Programming of PEGDA‐β‐CD Polyrotaxane‐Based Hydrogels via Host–Guest Molecular Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable hydrogel for tissue engineering is developed by modulating the molecular threading density of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate‐β‐cyclodextrin (PEGDA‐β‐CD) polyrotaxane and combining it with β‐CD‐modified gelatin. The polyrotaxane‐guided transition from disordered pores to laminar microstructures enables precise tuning ...

Reversible Tuning of Multiple Molecular Kinking for Stem Cell Regulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we introduce the novel concept of background component‐free “multiple kinks” material platform composed solely of liganded multiple kink‐bearing molecules as a strategy for dynamic biomaterial design. Tri‐kink molecules enable effective near‐infrared light‐triggered ligand masking and visible light‐triggered ligand exposure, thereby ...
