Study on Water Distribution System's Biological Stability of Northern Living District

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
AOC and BDOC are used to estimate the biostability of water distribution system in a northern living district of China. The results show that the concentrations of AOC and BDOC are 57.6 to 369.3 μg/L and 0.81 to 2.43 mg/L in water which is biologically unstable. The concentration of BDOC generally reduced with the along monitoring sites.

Mycobacterium avium Complex in Day Care Hot Water Systems, and Persistence of Live Cells and DNA in Hot Water Pipes

Current Microbiology, 2013
The Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is a group of opportunistic human pathogens that may thrive in engineered water systems. MAC has been shown to occur in drinking water supplies based on surface water, but less is known about the occurrence and persistence of live cells and DNA in public hot water systems based on groundwater.

Live Demonstration on Smart Water Quality Monitoring System Using Wireless Sensor Networks

2018 IEEE SENSORS, 2018
Contamination of water is the major cause for waterborne diseases. In order to detect the water contaminants, electrochemical and optical sensors are needed to measure physical and chemical properties of water quality. So this paper proposed a real-time water quality monitoring system which provides support for decision making in prevention of water ...

Water states in living systems. I. Structural aspects.

Physiological chemistry and physics and medical NMR, 1995
Formation and special consequences of water-ordering are studied and discussed. Based on the knowledge of the water states, a special dynamic clustering (called dynamic frustration) is suggested. This can be an essential mechanism for life processes. A frustration mechanism and its consequences are discussed.

The Design and Evaluation of the Body Water Management System to Support the Independent Living of the Older Adult

2014
Aiming for older adult’s comfortable and independent outing, we are researching and developing the body water management system according to their outing schedule, their surrounding environment, and their activities like eating and drinking. In this paper, we describe our proposed system, the physiological formula for non-invasive estimation of the ...

The state of water in living systems: from the liquid to the jellyfish.

Cellular and molecular biology (Noisy-le-Grand, France), 2006
The status of water in living systems is reviewed both from philosophical and scientific viewpoints. Starting from antique Mediterranean civilizations (Sumerian, Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek), a world trip is proposed through Norse myths, Siberian Shamanism, Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, Shinto, Mayan, Aztec, Inca, Aboriginal and African philosophies in order
