Assessment of Spatial and Temporal Nitrate Dynamics in a Medium‐Sized Watershed Using SWAT‐RIVE

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 39, Issue 12, December 2025.
Nitrate dynamics in a catchment with multiple anthropogenic pressures were evaluated with SWAT‐RIVE. The results show that 54% of soil nitrate is removed by denitrification, mainly in agricultural areas and wetlands, 8.5% of nitrate inputs to soils reach the river system, and 1.7% is removed by in‐stream processes.

Chlorophylls and β‐carotene in Spirulina platensis Dietary Supplements: Nano Liquid Chromatography Versus Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy for Establishing Composition, Quality Control, and Comparison of Commercial Products

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 48, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Spirulina is considered a superfood due to its chlorophylls. Two new methods for the determination of chlorophylls and β‐carotene were developed here, one based on in‐tube solid‐phase microextraction (IT‐SPME) coupled online to nanoliquid chromatography (nanoLC) with diode array detection (DAD), and the other on ultraviolet‐visible diffuse ...

Optimization of Active Sites in TiO2–Cu Photocatalysts for H2 Generation via Cellulose Photo‐Reforming

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 12, June 23, 2025.
Three series of titania–Cu photocatalysts have been prepared and tested for hydrogen generation by cellulose photo‐reforming. Copper was incorporated, by impregnation, in P25 (a) and in hydrothermally synthesized TiO2 (b), and also by a one‐pot hydrothermal synthesis (c).

Alley Cropping Can Potentially Alter the Nitrogen and Carbon Soil Cycles and Increase the Abundance of Beneficial Bacteria in a Mediterranean Citrus Orchard

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Monocrop of mandarin leading to reduced soil biodiversity and functionality that must be changed to a sustainable agriculture practice such as alley cropping. In this study an attempt has been made to assess how two different alley cropping strategies promote soil bacterial diversity, microbial activities and the abundance of beneficial ...
