Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Few-shot crop pests and diseases recognition based on adversarial augmentation and task interpolation

open access: yesPlant Methods
Deep learning has made remarkable advances in the identification of crop pests and diseases. However, it requires a significant quantity of labeled data, which increases the burden of dataset collection and annotation.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Analysis of a rapid load test on an instrumented bored pile in clay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Rapid load testing methods for piled foundations are generally easier and quicker to mobilise than classic static tests, and are less complex to analyse than dynamic load tests.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Probabilistic load flow in systems with high wind power penetration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper proposes a method for solving a probabilistic load flows that takes into account the uncertainties of wind generation, but also of load and conventional systems.

Capivasertib reverses chemotherapy-induced esophageal cancer resistance via inhibiting Akt-associated Mcl-1 upregulation

open access: yesHeliyon
The development of resistance to chemotherapy in esophageal cancer represents a significant challenge in cancer treatment. Therefore, our study aimed to identify effective therapeutic strategies by examining the molecules involved in this chemoresistance.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

How much load can my pallet carry?

open access: yes, 2018
Properly determining the exact load carrying capacity of a pallet is essential to ensure the effectiveness of the supply chain. Multiple testing procedures are published by different organizations and all could be used to estimate the load capacity of ...
