Experimental Study of Wave Load Distributions on Pile Groups Affected by Cap Structures and Pile Spacings Under Varied Wave Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Wave-induced forces pose significant challenges to marine structures, especially pile groups, where cap structures and pile spacings play critical roles in load distribution and structural stability.

Networked loads in the distribution grid.

open access: yes, 2012
Central utility services are increasingly networked systems that use an interconnection of sensors and programmable logic controllers, and feed data to servers and human-machine interfaces. These systems are connected to the Internet so that they can be accessed remotely, and the network in these plants is structured according to the SCADA model ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Calculation Method and Experimental Investigation of Root Bending Stress in Line Contact Spiral Bevel Gear Pairs

open access: yesMachines
Compared to spiral bevel gear drives with localized conjugation, line contact spiral bevel gears possess a significantly larger meshing area, theoretically achieving full tooth surface contact and substantially enhancing load capacity.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Changes in human calcaneal morphology throughout the Pleistocene-Holocene Levant

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The calcaneal morphology changed considerably during human evolution to enable efficient bipedal locomotion. However, little information exists regarding its adaptation to changes in habitual activities following the transition to a sedentary lifestyle ...
