Application of 500 kV UPFC in Suzhou southern power grid

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The implementation of a 500 kV unified power flow controller (UPFC) project in Suzhou southern power grid is reported in this study. The UPFC project has been put into operation at the end of 2017, and has become the largest capacity and highest voltage ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

State-of-the-art on the protection of FACTS compensated high-voltage transmission lines: a review

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2018
In recent years, the inclusion of flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS)-based compensating devices such as a thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and a unified power flow controller (UPFC) has been increased in high-voltage power transmission ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Reduction of nonlinear models for control applications

open access: yes, 2013
A systematic approach to the model reduction of high-fidelity fluid-structure-flight models and the subsequent flight control design for very flexible aircraft is considered. The test case is for an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Integrated electronic control of electro-hydraulic excavators

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
An electro-hydraulic system is a control system that combines electrical and hydraulic power to operate machinery and equipment. In this type of system, electrical signals are used in place of mechanical force to regulate the flow of hydraulic fluid ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Remote Voltage Control Using the Holomorphic Embedding Load Flow Method [PDF]

open access: yes2020 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2019
This paper proposes a new remote voltage control approach based on the non-iterative holomorphic embedding load flow method (HELM). Unlike traditional power-flow-based methods, this method can guarantee the convergence to the stable upper branch solution if it exists and does not depend on an initial guess of the solution.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
