Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Integrated electronic control of electro-hydraulic excavators

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
An electro-hydraulic system is a control system that combines electrical and hydraulic power to operate machinery and equipment. In this type of system, electrical signals are used in place of mechanical force to regulate the flow of hydraulic fluid ...

On Solving the Load Flow Problem as an Optimization Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The load flow problem is usually solved as a system of nonlinear equations using gradient based iterative methods. This technical note explains a way in which the load flow problem can be posed in a form of an optimization problem.

Modeling and Real-Time Scheduling of DC Platform Supply Vessel for Fuel Efficient Operation

open access: yes, 2017
DC marine architecture integrated with variable speed diesel generators (DGs) has garnered the attention of the researchers primarily because of its ability to deliver fuel efficient operation. This paper aims in modeling and to autonomously perform real-

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A new hydraulic synchronous scheme in open-loop control: Load-sensing synchronous control

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 2020
At present, open-loop synchronous control for hydraulic systems widely using synchronous valves has low synchronous accuracy due to weak anti-bias capacity, and is hard to adjust synchronization velocity, so it could not meet the requirements of accurate

Boosting thermoelectric efficiency using time-dependent control

open access: yes, 2015
Thermoelectric efficiency is defined as the ratio of power delivered to the load of a device to the rate of heat flow from the source. Till date, it has been studied in presence of thermodynamic constraints set by the Onsager reciprocal relation and the ...
