Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Distributionally Robust Optimization Based Restoration for Integrated Electricity-Gas Systems Incorporating Wind Power and Flexible Reserve Capacity Allocations

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
The integrated electricity-gas system (IEGS) is the foundation of the Energy Internet. As inevitable risk factors, the widespread blackout and large-scale energy supply disruptions represent serious threats to the IEGS.

A MILP-Based Restoration Technique for Multi-Microgrid Distribution Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The main focus of the work presented in this paper is on the outage management of interconnected microgrids during islanded operation after being disconnected from the utility main supply.

The application of rule-based knowledge to load forecasting of electrical power systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The thesis describes short-term load forecasting by an expert system approach based on knowledge engineering. Conventionally, short-term load prediction is based on mathematical models which either extract the mathematical properties in the time series ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A resilient self‐healing approach for active distribution networks considering dynamic microgrid formation

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
A large number of renewable distributed generation (DG) systems connect to the distribution network, affecting the structure of the traditional distribution network and forming an active distribution network (ADN).

Service restoration strategy for active distribution networks considering source-load uncertainty

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
Active distribution networks (ADNs) incorporate numerous distributed generations (DGs) and energy storage systems. When sudden faults occur in the system, service restoration can be enhanced through microgrid formation and network reconfiguration ...

Maximizing restorable load amount for specific substation during system restoration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2012
During power system restoration, the maximum load amount that a substation can pick up at one time is a critical parameter to be determined. Many factors should be considered, such as frequency constraint, transient voltage-dip constraint, steady-state voltage constraint and cold load pickup. This paper proposes a mathematical model for calculating the
