Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Robust contingency-constrained load restoration method for transmission systems considering modified SOCP formulation of power flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
A proper load restoration method can speed up the load restoration phase and reduce the outage losses of power systems after natural disasters. Existing research assumes that transmission lines would not trip again in the load restoration phase, which is

Multi-source coordinated stochastic restoration for SOP in distribution networks with a two-stage algorithm

open access: yesGlobal Energy Interconnection, 2023
After suffering from a grid blackout, distributed energy resources (DERs), such as local renewable energy and controllable distributed generators and energy storage can be used to restore loads enhancing the system’s resilience.

Oral loading of propafenone: restoring its role before restoring rhythm—authors’ reply [PDF]

open access: yesEP Europace, 2017
We wish to thank Martignani et al. 1 for their critical Letter to the Editor according to our article recently published in Europace 2 where they question our proposal that propafenone should not be generally excluded from cardioversion of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in patients with structural heart disease.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

MPC-Based Black Start and Restoration for Resilient DER-Rich Electric Distribution System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
For past several years the resiliency of the power grid is severely challenged by extreme events. Black start and restoration scheme (BS&RS) is critical to enhance distribution grid resiliency.

Load Profile Inpainting for Missing Load Data Restoration and Baseline Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
This paper introduces a Generative Adversarial Nets (GAN) based, Load Profile Inpainting Network (Load-PIN) for restoring missing load data segments and estimating the baseline for a demand response event. The inputs are time series load data before and after the inpainting period together with explanatory variables (e.g., weather data).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Distributionally robust sequential load restoration of distribution system considering random contingencies

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
Natural disasters would destroy power grids and lead to blackouts. To enhance resilience of distribution systems, the sequential load restoration strategy can be adopted to restore outage portions using a sequence of control actions, such as switch on ...
