Gear Tooth Root Stresses of a Very Heavily Loaded Gear Pair-Case Study: Orbiter Body Flap Actuator Pinion and Ring Gear [PDF]

open access: yes
The space shuttle orbiter's body flap actuator gearing was assessed as a case study of the stresses for very heavily loaded external-internal gear pairs (meshing pinion and ring gear).

An innovation integrated approach to testing motorcycle drive chain lubricants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
An innovative integrated approach to the testing and comparison of motorcycle drive chain lubricants is presented. This is a novel way of testing the lubrication by using loaded operating chains and sprockets.

Finite element modelling and load share analysis for involute worm gears with localized tooth contact

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2001
A new approach has been developed by the authors to estimate the load share of worm gear drives, and to calculate the instantaneous tooth meshing stiffness and loaded transmission errors. In the approach, the finite element (FE) modelling is based on the modified tooth geometry, which ensures that the worm gear teeth are in localized contact.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.

Load Tooth Contact Analysis for Arc Tooth Face Gear Considering Assembly Misalignment

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2015
The generating method is adopted for processing arc tooth face gear to ensure the meshing precision of arc tooth face gear pair. The tooth face contact model is established with assembly misalignment. By application of the elastic contact mechanics, finite element influence matrix method and mathematical programming method, the load tooth contact ...

Diet of bird‐like troodontid dinosaurs: synthesis of a contentious clade

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Troodontidae is a clade of small‐to medium‐sized maniraptoran theropods that mainly lived in Laurasia (modern Asia, North America and Europe) during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and are believed to have had a variety of diets. The uniqueness of troodontid teeth suggests that they diverged from the typical flesh‐based diet of non‐avian ...

Periodontitis treatment and microbiome in a patient with FAM20A mutation: Case study of 1.5 years

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Enamel‐renal‐gingival syndrome (ERGS) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the FAMily with sequence similarity 20A (FAM20A) gene, and is characterized by amelogenesis imperfecta, delayed or failed tooth eruption, and periodontitis.

Study on Contact Ratio Calculation of Face Gear with Modification based on Gear Tooth Contact Analysis

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2015
The contact ratio is an important performance index of gear transmission, but there is no computational formula of contact ratio for complex tooth surface transmission, such as face gears. The definition of face gear contact ratio is given, and the method of

Effect of extended tooth contact on the modeling of spur gear transmissions [PDF]

open access: yes
In some gear dynamic models, the effect of tooth flexibility is ignored when the model determines which pairs of teeth are in contact. Deflection of loaded teeth is not introduced until the equations of motion are solved.
