Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Optimization Design of Modification of Herringbone Star Gear Transmission

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
Gear modification is an important technique to improve its transmission performance. The herringbone gears are combined with star gear transmissions to form a herringbone star gear transmission, and its modeling method of modified tooth surface as well as

Multi-objective Orthogonal Test Simulation and Modification Parameter Design based on Ease-off Topology

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2022
To improve the comprehensive dynamic meshing performance of a certain gear product, a design method for controlling the polynomial coefficients of the topological modification of the tooth surface is proposed.

Tooth Surface Modification for Helical Gear Pairs considering Mesh Misalignment Tolerance

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Mesh misalignment in mating the gear tooth surface is common and difficult to be determined accurately because of system deformation and bearing clearances, as well as manufacturing and assembly errors.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Simulation and validation of the transmission error, meshing stiffness, and load sharing of planetary spur gear transmissions

open access: yesMechanism and Machine Theory
Although the load sharing between planets of sequentially phased planetary gear transmissions has been studied in the past, the required solving techniques based on the Finite Element Method result in long time consuming and high computational cost.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
