Tensions between the local and the global: contemporary rural and teaching in rural schools

open access: yesEducação (Santa Maria. Online), 2012
The paper aims to investigate potential tensions between local and global context of contemporary ruralities, emphasizing the times, rhythms and spaces constructed from the experiences of teachers and students in the organization of the routines of rural

Features of expression of immunohistochemical markers in local and generalized clear cell kidney cancer

open access: yesИсследования и практика в медицине, 2020
Purpose of the study. To conduct a comparative analysis of the expression of the following markers: Ki‑67, cyclin D1, E‑cadherin, CD44, MMP‑9, VEGF, P53, vimentin in renal tumor tissue in clear cell kidney cancer depending on the prevalence of the tumor ...

On locales of localizations

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 1987
A localization of a category \({\mathcal A}\) is a reflective subcategory \({\mathcal C}\to {\mathcal A}\) with left exact reflector \(r: {\mathcal A}\to {\mathcal C}\). It is well known that in certain cases the localizations of \({\mathcal A}\), Loc \({\mathcal A}\), (ordered by inclusion of subcategories), forms the dual of a locale.

On Locality of Local Explanation Models

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
Shapley values provide model agnostic feature attributions for model outcome at a particular instance by simulating feature absence under a global population distribution. The use of a global population can lead to potentially misleading results when local model behaviour is of interest.

Locality and Non locality

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Applied Physics, 2020
Aim: Whether, under all the circumstances considered, a relativistic concept of locality and non-locality may fully reproduce the quantum probabilities for outcomes of experiments, is re-investigated.Methods: The usual methods and rules of statistics, probability theory and quantum mechanics were used.

Regenerative Capacities of Chitosan-Nanoselenium Conduit on Transected Sciatic Nerve in Diabetic Rats: An Animal Model Study [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Emergency and Trauma, 2020
Objective: To assess regenerative capacities of chitosan-nanoselenium conduit on transected sciatic nerve in diabetic rats. Methods: A 10-mm sciatic nerve defect was bridged using a chitosan-nanoselenium conduit filled with phosphate buffered saline.

The role of local steps in local SGD

open access: yesOptimization Methods and Software, 2023
We consider the distributed stochastic optimization problem where $n$ agents want to minimize a global function given by the sum of agents' local functions, and focus on the heterogeneous setting when agents' local functions are defined over non-i.i.d. data sets.

Lived experiences and local spaces: Bangladeshi migrants in post-apartheid South Africa

open access: yesContree, 2013
Migration literature tends to speak of temporary migration as economic migration and therefore the experience of migration is centred on the economy.

Local and 2-Local Derivations of Locally Simple Lie Algebras

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2022
In the present paper, we study local and 2-local derivations of the classical locally simple Lie algebras. Firstly, we prove that every local and 2-local derivations on classical locally simple Lie algebra is a derivation. Further, we show that every local derivation of Borel subalgebras of locally simple Lie algebras is a derivation.
