A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Two decades of local binary patterns: A survey
Texture is an important characteristic for many types of images. In recent years very discriminative and computationally efficient local texture descriptors based on local binary patterns (LBP) have been developed, which has led to significant progress in applying texture methods to different problems and applications.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Texture Features of Aglaonema Leaves with Local Binary Pattern Code
The Aglaonema type and quality is difficult to identify due to leaf pattern variety. For this reason, a technique is developed to classify Aglaonema types from leaf images. The Aglaonema is identified using the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) technique.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
