Employee attendance system using face recognition and GPS using local binary pattern histogram

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Tracking employee attendance is an integral part of running a company in an organized and economical manner. Conventional approaches such as manual sign-ins and RFID cards or fingerprint scanning have shown important weaknesses, especially with regard to

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Face recognition system using local binary pattern with binary dragonfly algorithm (BDA) to feature selection

open access: yes, 2022
In this thesis, local binary pattern will use to feature extraction and the Binary Dragonfly Algorithm (BDA) will use to find the optimum features. This is new methodology for face recognition system.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Wavelet based approaches for detection and recognition in ear biometrics

open access: yes, 2012
One of the most recent trends in biometrics is recognition by ear appearance in head profile images. Ear localization to determine the region of interest containing ears is an important step in an ear biometric system.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
