Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Investigation of differential diffusion in lean, premixed, hydrogen-enriched swirl flames
Hydrogen combustion is a promising alternative to fossil fuel combustion in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. However, hydrogen combustion is prone to thermodiffusive instabilities largely dependent on differential diffusion, a phenomenon that ...

Thermonuclear .Ia Supernovae from Helium Shell Detonations: Explosion Models and Observables [PDF]
During the early evolution of an AM CVn system, helium is accreted onto the surface of a white dwarf under conditions suitable for unstable thermonuclear ignition.

The GSF Instability and Turbulence do not Account for the Relatively Low Rotation Rate of Pulsars [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to examine the effects of the horizontal turbulence in differentially rotating stars on the GSF instability and apply our results to pre-supernova models.

A dual‐domain PSLC architecture enables direct comparison of alignment‐dependent laser damage within a single device. Crack‐like and seal‐like morphologies emerge under different damage conditions, and their evolution is interpreted through quantitative image analysis and heat‐driven simulations.

A Common Explosion Mechanism for Type Ia Supernovae [PDF]
Type Ia supernovae, the thermonuclear explosions of white dwarf stars composed of carbon and oxygen, were instrumental as distance indicators in establishing the acceleration of the universe's expansion. However, the physics of the explosion are debated.

Numerical investigation of the Soret effect on burning velocity of lean hydrogen flame
2D numerical simulations of a wrinkled lean hydrogen (H2)-air premixed flame are performed with and without considering the Soret effect to investigate the Soret effect on flame propagation.

Pulsational Pair-instability Supernovae. I. Pre-collapse Evolution and Pulsational Mass Ejection [PDF]
We calculate the evolution of massive stars, which undergo pulsational pair-instability (PPI) when the O-rich core is formed. The evolution from the main-sequence through the onset of PPI is calculated for stars with the initial masses of $80 - 140$ $M_{\
