Darrieus–Landau instability and Markstein numbers of premixed flames in a Hele-Shaw cell
Hydrodynamic flame instabilities are studied in a Hele-Shaw burner. By studying the development of perturbations, starting from a 2D Bunsen flame at the top of the burner, growth rates are measured for propane and methane–air mixtures, and compared to theoretical predictions.

Flow field and local burning velocity affected by stretch in swirl flow of turbulent premixed flames
In this study, we have investigated turbulent premixed flames affected by local stretch in a swirl flow, measured by the simultaneous OH-PLIF/SPIV system. Evaluating the transient of burning velocity and stretch rate, the flow and the flame dynamics in a

CFD Analysis of Explosions with Hydrogen-Methane-Air Mixtures in Congested Geometries
Hydrogen is an enabler for de-carbonising the energy system in Europe by 2050. In the UK, several projects are investigating the feasibility of gradually blending hydrogen into the natural gas pipelines with the aim to reach 100% hydrogen in the gas ...

Laminar burning velocities and Markstein numbers of hydrocarbonair flames [PDF]
Effects of positive flame stretch on the laminar burning velocities of hydrocarbon/air mixtures were studied experimentally using outwardly propagating spherical flames. The test conditions included propane, methane, ethane, and ethylene-air flames at various fuel-equivalence ratios and normal temperature and pressure.

Laminar Flame Characteristics of Premixed Methanol–Water–Air Mixture
Methanol is hygroscopic in a gaseous state and is a promising alternative fuel for internal combustion engines. It is understood that adding water can improve the antiknock performance for spark ignition engines, but this will also affect the flame speed

Experimental Study on Local Flame Properties of Hydrogen Added Hydrocarbon Premixed Turbulent Flames
This experimental study is performed to investigate directly the local flame properties of turbulent propagating flames at the same weak turbulence condition (u'/SL0=1.4), in order to clarify basically the influence of the addition of hydrogen to ...
