Abstract Vehicular traffic is a major contributor to anthropogenic heat flux (AHF) in urban areas, amplifying urban heat island effects. However, few Earth system models explicitly represent traffic conditions and their associated heat emissions. This study introduces a new urban traffic module into the Community Earth System Model (CESM), enabling ...

Regions of Climatic Stability for Neotropical Primates
Spatial distribution of climatic stability, endemism, and model uncertainty for Neotropical primates. The left panel depicts projected climatic stability (warm colours = higher proportion of species with persistent climatic suitability; cool colours = lower stability). The upper‐right panel shows endemism (warm colours = higher concentration of endemic

Outdoor thermal comfort is the condition where individuals feel neither too hot nor too cold according to environmental conditions. This comfort is critical for people to be able to continue their physical activities and social interactions in open spaces. Research shows that increasing green spaces, tree cover and urban morphology can increase thermal

ABSTRACT Urban heat islands (UHIs) pose a significant environmental issue in rapidly urbanizing areas, intensifying the need for accurate methods to assess and mitigate their effects. The Local Climate Zones (LCZ) classification system is a standardized land use approach for urban heat island (UHI) research.

A Scene Unmixing Deep Learning Network for Local Climate Zone Mapping and Analysis Using Very High Resolution Remote Sensing Imagery [PDF]
With the acceleration of urbanization, the environment and climate necessary for our survival have gradually deteriorated, leading to the increasing prominence of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect.

Whirlwinds in Ladakh, India: An Initial Assessment of ARW‐WRF Performance
First‐ever visual evidence of whirlwinds in the Himalayan Ladakh region is presented. Whirlwinds were photographically captured in Stok, Choglamsar, and Nubra valleys in Ladakh, India, in June 2018. It is estimated that the spatial extent of these whirlwinds was ~50 m2, vertical extent ~0.5–1 km, and lasted for ~15 min. Local communities were concerned

This study analysed and modelled summertime indoor temperature dynamics in the Netherlands using a unique long‐term crowdsourced dataset from seven residences (spanning 2–27 years). Indoor temperatures were found to rise and cool more slowly than outdoors (mean 260 minute lag), with heatwave signals persisting about five days.
