How Particle Size Affects Consolidation Behavior, Strain and Properties of Li6PS5Cl Fast Ionic Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The densification process of Li6PS5Cl powders with varying particles size distributions reveals differences in smaller and larger distributions. Higher strain is revealed for the smaller particle size distribution from X‐ray diffraction. Discrete element method simulations uncover that the reason for the higher strain is not the particle size itself ...

Laws, Parks, Reserves, and Local Peoples: A Brief Historical Analysis of Conservation Legislation in Mozambique

open access: yesConservation & Society, 2019
This article uses a short historical study of Mozambican conservation legislation to show how local knowledges have been systematically disenfranchised from legislation since colonial period through a discourse analysis of conservation legal documents ...

Synergies in Agricultural Biodiversity Conservation: Decomposing the Interaction Between Nature Parks and Agri‐Environment Schemes

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how policy instruments with overlapping goals interact is crucial for leveraging their synergies. This study explores the mechanisms for regional nature parks (a form of protected areas that impose no restrictions on agriculture) to enhance the adoption of biodiversity‐conserving agri‐environment schemes (AES) in Switzerland ...

Traveling waves for conservation laws with nonlocal flux for traffic flow on rough roads

open access: yesNetworks and Heterogeneous Media, 2019
We consider two scalar conservation laws with non-local flux functions, describing traffic flow on roads with rough conditions. In the first model, the velocity of the car depends on an averaged downstream density, while in the second model one considers

Non-local scalar conservation laws with discontinuous flux

open access: yes, 2020
We prove the well-posedness of entropy weak solutions for a class of space-discontinuous scalar conservation laws with non-local flux arising in traffic modeling. We approximate the problem adding a viscosity term and we provide $L^\infty$ and BV estimates for the approximate solutions.

Predicting Performance of Hall Effect Ion Source Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
This study introduces HallNN, a machine learning tool for predicting Hall effect ion source performance using a neural network ensemble trained on data generated from numerical simulations. HallNN provides faster and more accurate predictions than numerical methods and traditional scaling laws, making it valuable for designing and optimizing Hall ...

Crater Observing Bioinspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Crater Observing Bio‐inspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA) is a modular, snake‐inspired robot that addresses the mobility challenges of extraterrestrial exploration sites such as Shackleton Crater. Incorporating snake‐like gaits and tumbling locomotion, COBRA navigates both uneven surfaces and steep crater walls.
