Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Optical angular momentum derivation and evolution from vectorial field superposition

open access: yes, 2019
Optical intrinsic angular momentum can be regarded as derivation from spatial superposition of optical vector fields embodied by spinning or and spiraling the electric field vector.

Validation of the Euroscore on Cardiac Surgery Patients in Nairobi

open access: yesThe Annals of African Surgery, 2017
Background: The Additive Euroscore (AE) predicts outcomes in cardiac surgical procedures performed on cardiopulmonary bypass. It’s been widely used in developed nations but it’s applicability in Kenya is unknown.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Local derivation on the $n$-th Schr{\"o}dinger algebra

open access: yes
This paper is devoted to study local derivations on the $n$-th Schr{\"o}dinger algebra $\mathcal{S}_{n}.$ We prove that every local derivation on $\mathcal{S}_{n}$ is a ...

Local derivations of nest subalgebras of von Neumann algebras

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper, it is proved that every norm continuous linear local derivation of a nest subalgebra of a factor von Neumann algebra is a derivation, and that every linear 2-local derivation of a nest subalgebra of a factor von Neumann algebra is a ...

Derivation of Optimal Global Equalization Function with Variable Size Block Based Local Contrast Enhancement

open access: yesJournal of Measurement Science and Instrumentation, 2010
A conventional global contrast enhancement is difficult to apply in various images because image quality and contrast enhancement are dependent on image characteristics largely. And a local contrast enhancement not only causes a washed-out effect, but also

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Characterizations of (Jordan) derivation on Banach algebra with local actions

open access: yes, 2022
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a unital Banach $*$-algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ be a unital $*$-$\mathcal{A}$-bimodule. If $W$ is a left separating point of $\mathcal{M}$, we show that every $*$-derivable mapping at $W$ is a Jordan derivation, and every $*$-left ...
