This work augments two‐photon polymerization with point‐wise dose control, enabling structures with heterogeneous material properties such as refractive index. An open source toolbox and superior calibration methodology for the refractive index pave the way for bio‐mimicking or numerically optimized structure designs, and enhance the synergy between 3D

Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Validation of the SARAH-E Satellite-Based Surface Solar Radiation Estimates over India
We evaluate the accuracy of the satellite-based surface solar radiation dataset called Surface Solar Radiation Data Set - Heliosat (SARAH-E) against in situ measurements over a variety of sites in India between 1999 and 2014.

Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...

Edge-lit LCD backlight unit for 2D local dimming
Local dimming technology has been highly desired for integration with liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in order to improve their contrast ratios (CRs) as well as to overcome power efficiency bottlenecks. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a slim (~1 mm) edge-lit LCD backlight unit (BLU) capable of 2D local dimming.

Optimal local dimming for LED-backlit LCD displays via linear programming
LED-backlit LCD displays hold the promise of improving the image quality while reducing the energy consumption with signal-dependent local dimming. To fully realize such potentials we propose a novel local dimming technique that jointly optimizes the ...

Subjective comparison of brightness preservation methods for local backlight dimming displays [PDF]
Local backlight dimming is a popular technology in high quality Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs). In those displays, the backlight is composed of contributions from several individually adjustable backlight segments, set at different backlight luminance ...

Local pinching estimates in 3-dim Ricci flow [PDF]
We study curvature pinching estimates of Ricci flow on complete 3- dimensional manifolds without bounded curvature assumption. We will derive some general curvature conditions which are preserved on any complete solution of 3-dim Ricci flow, these conditions include nonnegative Ricci curvature and sectional curvature as special cases.

Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.
