Three-dimensional object recognition using an extensible local surface descriptor
We present an extensible local feature descriptor that can encode both geometric and photometric information. We first construct a unique and stable local reference frame (LRF) using the sphere neighboring points of a feature point.

A Local Structural Descriptor for Image Matching via Normalized Graph Laplacian Embedding [PDF]
This paper investigates graph spectral approaches to the problem of point pattern matching. Specifically, we concentrate on the issue of how to effectively use graph spectral properties to characterize point patterns in the presence of positional jitter ...

A novel image zooming method based on sparse representation of Weber’s law descriptor
A novel image zooming algorithm based on sparse representation of Weber’s law descriptor is proposed in this article. It is known that features of low resolution can be extracted using four one-dimensional filters convoluting with low resolution patches.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Feedback Nash Equilibria for Linear Quadratic Descriptor Differential Games [PDF]
In this note we consider the non-cooperative linear feedback Nash quadratic differential game with an infinite planning horizon for descriptor systems of index one. The performance function is assumed to be indefinite.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

In local change, the operation ∘ is specific for the original belief set K. Formally it is a function that takes us from a descriptor Ψ to an element K∘ Ψ of the outcome set X (the set of belief sets that are potential outcomes of belief change). It only

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...
