Wavelet Galerkin method for fractional elliptic differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Under the guidance of the general theory developed for classical partial differential equations (PDEs), we investigate the Riesz bases of wavelets in the spaces where fractional PDEs usually work, and their applications in numerically solving fractional ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Reduced differential transform and variational iteration methods for 3-D diffusion model in fractal heat transfer within local fractional operators

open access: yesThermal Science, 2018
The analytical solutions of the 3-D diffusion equation in fractal heat transfer is found. The reduced differential transform and variational iteration methods are considered in the local fractional operator sense. In order to show the power and robustness of the proposed techniques, illustrative example is presented.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

The Equivalence Principle and the Moon

open access: yes, 1995
The perturbation of the lunar motion caused by a hypothetical violation of the equivalence principle is analytically worked out in terms of power series \`a la Hill-Brown.

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Concentration phenomena for a fractional Choquard equation with magnetic field

open access: yes, 2018
We consider the following nonlinear fractional Choquard equation $$ \varepsilon^{2s}(-\Delta)^{s}_{A/\varepsilon} u + V(x)u = \varepsilon^{\mu-N}\left(\frac{1}{|x|^{\mu}}*F(|u|^{2})\right)f(|u|^{2})u \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $\varepsilon>0 ...

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

A Novel Approach for Solving Volterra Integral Equations Involving Local Fractional Operator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The paper presents an approximation method called local fractional variational iteration method (LFVIM) for solving the linear and nonlinear Volterra integral equations of the second kind with local fractional derivative operators.
