A Coda-Duration Magnitude Scale for the Mesopotamian Seismological Network in Iraq

open access: yesIraqi Geological Journal
One of the routine tasks of local, regional, and global seismic networks is to calculate the earthquake magnitude using one or more scales. This study aims to derive a duration magnitude equation using the earthquake data recorded by the local ...

Optical Huygens’ Metasurfaces with Independent Control of the Magnitude and Phase of the Local Reflection Coefficients

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2014
Implementation of abrupt phase discontinuities along a surface has been the theme of recent research on electromagnetic metasurfaces. Simple functionalities such as reflecting, refracting, or focusing plane waves have been demonstrated with devices ...

MagmaFlow: A desktop platform for artificial intelligence‐driven expression analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MagmaFlow is a free, no‐code platform for gene expression analysis. It generates interactive volcano plots, links genes to literature, pathways, and diseases, prioritizes candidates using millions of publications, identifies affected biological processes, builds network diagrams, and exports publication‐ready figures and reports for macOS and Windows ...

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

A new coda-duration magnitude scale for northern Baja California, Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2005
In northern Baja California, coda-durations of seismic signals recorded in the sediments of the Mexicali-Imperial Valley (MIV) are longer than those recorded on the granitic Peninsular Ranges of Baja California (PRBC).

Age-Related Decline of Low-Spatial-Frequency Bias in Context-Dependent Visual Size Perception

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Global precedence has been found to decline or even shift to local precedence with increasing age. Little is known about the consequence of this age-related decline of global precedence on other aspects of older adults’ vision.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Reperfusion‐Dependent Outcomes After Endovascular Thrombectomy Stratified by NIHSS‐ASPECTS Clinical‐Core Mismatch

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This analysis evaluates the effect of successful reperfusion on functional outcomes after MT, stratified by admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) as surrogates for clinical‐core mismatch, using multicenter registry data.

基于断裂两侧应变能积累的地震危险性参数估计—以1679年三河—平谷M8.0地震为例

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2019

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.
