Treatment strategy for local recurrences after endoscopic resection of a colorectal neoplasm [PDF]

open access: closedSurgical Endoscopy, 2018
Endoscopic salvage treatment for recurrent or residual neoplasms is sometimes technically challenging, and information in choice of treatment methods is lacking. This study aimed to clarify the appropriate treatment strategy for local recurrence after endoscopic resection (ER).Seventy-four patients with 74 lesions who received endoscopic treatment for ...

Dormancy and Local Recurrence of Neoplasms [PDF]

open access: closed, 1989
Recurrent tumors may appear locally or at distant sites to which cells of the primary tumor have metastasized. Generally, recurrent tumors can be classified as early (less than two years after primary therapy), intermediate, and late (more than five years after primary therapy).

Clinicopathological significance of PTEN loss and the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt pathway in sporadic colorectal neoplasms: is PTEN loss predictor of local recurrence?

open access: closedThe American Journal of Surgery, 2008
PTEN is a tumor-suppressor gene located on chromosome 10. Deficient PTEN expression leads to activation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt (pAkt) signaling pathway, which may contribute to multiple human cancers. The relation between PTEN expression and Akt activation is still unclear in colorectal cancers and adenomatous polyps.

Phenol as an adjuvant in the control of local recurrence of benign neoplasms of bone treated by curettage.

open access: closedItalian journal of orthopaedics and traumatology, 1985
Throughout the present century phenol has been used to "sterilise" the edges of cavities left in bone after the clearance of benign tumours in order to reduce the risk of local recurrence. The results have been analysed of 165 benign bone tumours capable of local recurrence (aneurysmal bone cyst, chondroblastoma, giant cell tumour) treated with and ...

Incidental discovery of a nonfunctioning islet-cell tumor 8 years after resection of an insulinoma: primary neoplasm or local recurrence?

open access: closedEuropean Radiology, 1994
Two islet-cell tumors with uncommon radiological presentation were detected in a 48-year-old woman within a period of 8 years. Whereas the first tumor was an unusually large malignant insulinoma, the second (or recurrent) tumor was a non-functioning islet-cell tumor. Both tumors were studied~with with ultrasound and computed tomography.

The relationship between local recurrence and positive lateral margin after en bloc resection of colorectal neoplasm

open access: closedScandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2018
The factors associated with recurrence of colonic neoplasm after endoscopic resection with a positive lateral margin are not well known. Thus, we evaluate the relationship between recurrence and positive lateral margin after endoscopic en bloc resection of colorectal neoplasm.A retrospective review of 9302 patients who underwent colonic endoscopic ...

[Prognostic factors in local-regional recurrences of colorectal neoplasms].

open access: closedAnnali italiani di chirurgia, 1996
The aim of this study was to evaluate, in a group of patients suffering of colo-rectal cancer, the influence on local recurrence of some clinical and anatomo-pathological variables. The study was limited to 833 patients who underwent potentially curative resection and have been followed for at least two years.

[Surgical treatment of local recurrence of malignant lung neoplasms].

open access: closedKhirurgiia, 1993
Forty-seven reoperations were performed on 46 patients for local recurrence of carcinoma and other malignant tumors of the lung after surgical treatment. In two thirds of cases the local recurrence was a consequence of various errors in therapeutic tactics and surgical techniques made during the operation for the primary tumor. The malignant lung tumor

Re-irradiation of the pelvis for a genitourinary second malignant neoplasm or a local recurrence after full-dose pelvic radiotherapy for a pelvic cancer: Experience in a high-volume cancer center.

open access: closedJournal of Clinical Oncology, 2016
494 Background: Re-irradiation (re-RT) with external beam RT following prior pelvic RT has not been reported, given both an absence of guidelines and concerns for toxicity. We sought to characterize bladder and bowel toxicities among patients treated with high-dose palliative re-RT for genitourinary secondary malignant neoplasms (SMN) or local ...
