A Study of Physical and Mechanical Properties of the Indian Coconut for Efficient Dehusking

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2017
Coconut is a widely used fruit with soft flesh used for eating and its husk used as natural fiber. Husking is an important process in coconut processing and coir manufacturing which should be done with minimum effort. In an attempt to optimize the effort

The Study Of Properties Of The Word Of Mouth Marketing Using Cellular Automata

open access: yesFoundations of Computing and Decision Sciences, 2014
This article presents the possibility of using cellular automata, to study the properties of word of mouth (w-o-m) marketing. Cellular automata allow to analyze the dynamics of changes in views and attitudes in social groups based on local interactions ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Impaired functional network properties contribute to white matter hyperintensity related cognitive decline in patients with cerebral small vessel disease

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging, 2022
Background White matter hyperintensity (WMH) is one of the typical neuroimaging manifestations of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD), and the WMH correlates closely to cognitive impairment (CI). CSVD patients with WMH own altered topological properties

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Observability on the classes of non-nilpotent solvable three-dimensional Lie groups

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
In control theory, researchers need to understand a system’s local and global behaviors in relation to its initial conditions. When discussing observability, the main focus is on the ability to analyze the system using an output space defined by an ...

Non-monotonic reorganization of brain networks with Alzheimer’s disease progression

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2015
Background: Identification of stage-specific changes in brain network of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is critical for rationally designed therapeutics that delays the progression of the disease.
