Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Cyclic Codes over a Non-Local Non-Unital Ring

open access: yesMathematics
We study cyclic codes over the ring H of order 4 and characteristic 2 defined by generators and relations as H=⟨a,b∣2a=2b=0,a2=0,b2=b,ab=ba=0⟩. This is the first time that cyclic codes over a non-unitary ring are studied.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Phase velocity of a pressure wave on the axis of an acoustic field of a circular ring in an acoustic baffle

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2015
This paper is concerned with the so-called local velocity of a harmonic pressure wave of a. circular ring vibrating with a constant velocity amplitude. The ring is placed in an infinite rigid acoustic baffle.

On rigid derivations in rings

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2014
We prove that in a ring $R$ with an identity there exists an element $a\in R$ and a nonzero derivation $d\in Der R$ such that $ad(a)\neq 0$. A ring $R$ is said to be a $d$-rigid ring for some derivation $d \in Der R$ if  $d(a)=0$ or $ad(a)\neq 0$ for all

Homological Invariants of Local Rings [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 1963
In this paper R is a commutative noetherian local ring with unit element 1 and M is its maximal ideal. Let K be the residue field R/M and let {t1,t2,…, tn) be a minimal system of generators for M. By a complex R<T1. . ., Tp> we mean an R-algebra* obtained by the adjunction of the variables T1. . ., Tp of degree 1 which kill t1,…, tp.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
