Obstetrics and gynecology devices designed for low‐ and middle‐income countries: A narrative review
Abstract There are many barriers contributing to poor health outcomes for women in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), one of which is the lack of necessary medical devices. Presently, the development of various kinds of devices intended to improve women's health outcomes specifically in LMICs remains underrepresented in the literature; therefore,

Effects of pile caps on local scour at bridge piers [PDF]
The most existing pier-scour equations mainly apply to uniformly shaped piers. However, pier footings may often project above the streambed because of scour. This may be caused by either long-term bed degradation or local scour.

Modelling local scour around bridge piers using TELEMAC
Scour at bridge crossings is a major cause of bridge failure. There are several different types of scour such as general scour, constriction scour and local scour.

ABSTRACT Glacial Lake Fraser, which formed in British Columbia against the retreating Cordilleran Ice Sheet, stored ~520 km3 of water before its near‐total drainage into the Salish Sea during an outburst flood event. Despite the impact of the outburst flood on sediment transport and landscape evolution in the Fraser River valley, its peak discharge and

Numerical Investigation of Local Scour Around Double Triangular Prisms Using a DBM–LBM Coupled Model
Local scour is a typical hydro-sediment coupled process around near-bed obstacles. Its intensity and spatial distribution are jointly controlled by the surrounding-flow structure, sediment transport, and bed-feedback deformation.

Temporal variation of clear-water scour at compound Abutments
Most of actual abutments in rivers are built on foundation, while there is limited number of study available on the effects of the foundation on the local scour.

Using the movability number to model local clear-water scour in rivers
Includes bibliographical references.Local scour is associated with a considerable number of bridge failures worldwide. It occurs at bridge piers and abutments as a result of interactions between complex flow features and the channel bed.

Clear-water scour at comparatively large cylindrical piers [PDF]
New long-duration clear-water scour data were collected at single cylindrical piers with the objective of investigating the effect of sediment coarseness, Dp=D50 (Dp = pier diameter; D50 = median grain size) on the equilibrium scour depth and improving ...

Behavioral responses of black bears to human presence and infrastructure in Yosemite National Park
Using GPS collar data from black bears in Yosemite National Park, we examined how bear spatiotemporal activity in relation to human development shifted during the COVID‐19 park closure in 2020. In the absence of visitors, bears maintained consistent landscape‐scale space use but altered fine‐scale spatial and temporal behaviors.
