ON THE VARIANCE OF LOCAL STEREOLOGICAL VOLUME ESTIMATORS
In the present paper, the variance of local stereological volume estimators is studied. For isotropic designs, the variance depends on the shape of the body under study and the choice of reference point. It can be expressed in terms of an equivalent star

FURTHER RESULTS ON VARIANCES OF LOCAL STEREOLOGICAL ESTIMATORS
In the present paper the statistical properties of local stereological estimators of particle volume are studied. It is shown that the variance of the estimators can be decomposed into the variance due to the local stereological estimation procedure and ...

Geometric tomography and local stereology
The dual Brunn-Minkowski theory created by E. Lutwak deals with starshaped sets and concentric sections, it uses radial functions for a study of dual analogs of mixed volumes and intrinsic volumes. The authors considerably extend the theory of dual volumes by admitting bounded Borel sets, with \(i\)-chord functions (involving \(i\)th powers of radial ...

Reactive Carbide-Based Synthesis and Microstructure of NASICON Sodium Metal All Solid-State Electrolyte. [PDF]
Sodium Metal All‐Solid State Batteries (Na‐ASSBs) are enabled by the synthesis of the solid state electrolyte, NASICON (Na1+xZr2SixP3‐xO12), using carbide‐based precursor compounds (ZrC and SiC); resulting in dense, pure, and mechanically improved microstructure.

Age-Related Decline in Dendritic Architecture of Hippocampal CA1 Principal Neurons in a Mouse Model of Fragile X Syndrome. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is the most common inherited cause of intellectual disability and is associated with attention deficits, hyperactivity, anxiety, impulsivity, and repetitive behaviors. The disorder results from transcriptional silencing of the FMR1 gene, leading to loss of fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein (FMRP), an RNA‐binding ...

High vulnerability of medial prefrontal pyramidal neurons in post-stroke, vascular, Alzheimer's disease, and aging-related dementias. [PDF]
Abstract INTRODUCTION The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is critical for executive function, behavioral inhibition, and memory. Its high vulnerability to dementia, compared to other prefrontal regions, remains unclear. METHODS We analyzed post mortem brain tissue from 118 older subjects, including post‐stroke survivors, Alzheimer's disease; vascular ...

Localization of Macrophages in the Human Lung Via Design-Based Stereology [PDF]
Abstract Rationale Interstitial macrophages (IMs) and airspace macrophages (AMs) play critical roles in lung homeostasis and host defense, and are central to the pathogenesis of a number of lung diseases.

Wicksell's Problem in Local Stereology [PDF]
Wicksell's classical corpuscle problem deals with the retrieval of the size distribution of spherical particles from planar sections. We discuss the problem in a local stereology framework. Each particle is assumed to contain a reference point and the individual particle is sampled with an isotropic random plane through this reference point.
