CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

On the Self-Intersection Local Time of Subfractional Brownian Motion

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
We study the problem of self-intersection local time of d-dimensional subfractional Brownian motion based on the property of chaotic representation and the white noise analysis.

A Local Time for a Storage Process

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1975
Abstract : A storage system subject to a general release rule and an additive input process is considered. If (X sub t) is the content at time t, then the set X = X sub t; t> or = 0) is a standard Markov process, and the concern is the local time at x = 0 of this process X. Depending on the parameters of the system, namely the release rule and the Levy

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Some Mathematical Examples of Emergent Intuitive Local Time Flow

open access: yesFoundations
After reviewing important historical and present day ideas about the concept of time, we develop some instances of mathematical examples where, from the interaction of concepts that model interactions of things in the observable world, time flow emerges ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Staying put: a comparative study of non-evacuation during environmental disasters

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Effective evacuations mitigate the harm of environmental disasters. Yet, many people who are able to evacuate remain in place during environmental disasters.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Continuity of Gaussian Local Times

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1982
Continuity in the time parameter is considered for a natural version of the local time for stationary Gaussian processes. Bounds are given for the local and uniform modulus of continuity which are applicable in cases not covered by Kono, notably when the incremental variance is a regularly varying function of index two.

Local Time and the Unification of Physics Part I. Local Time

open access: yes, 2001
The notions of time in the theories of Newton and Einstein are reviewed so that the difficulty which impedes the unification of quantum mechanics (QM) and general relativity (GR) is clarified. It is seen that GR by itself contains an intrinsic difficulty relating to the definition of local clocks, as well as that GR still requires a kind of absolute ...
