The Local Effects of Monetary Policy [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
Many studies have documented disparities in the regional responses to monetary policy shocks. However, because of computational issues, the literature has often neglected the richest level of disaggregation: the city. In this paper, we estimate the city-level responses to monetary policy shocks in a Bayesian SVAR.

Non-local correlation dynamics in two-dimensional graphene

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We explore the non-local correlation dynamics in a Graphene sheet of disordered electrons in a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice, containing two sublattices, induced by the interaction range of impurity potentials of two Dirac points.

Investigation of Local Degradation Effects [PDF]

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2010
Degradation processes in PEFC lead to insufficient life-time which is one of the crucial problems hindering mass market penetration of fuel cells. The degradation rate depends strongly on the operating conditions of fuel cells. Additionally, the operating conditions can vary significantly along the flow path. Therefore, at DLR the degradation processes

Interface Scattering as a Nonlocal Transport Phenomenon in Semiconductors

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2023
Macroscopically non-local effects are common in electron transport in semiconductor devices, occurring whenever the mean free path and/or the deBroglie wavelength are not small compared to geometry/flow length scales.

Signature Graphs for Effective Localization

open access: yes2006 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2006
We present a novel method for the localization of an autonomous vehicle in two dimensions. Instead of focussing on properties of obstacles, we emphasize the description of free-space. We introduce the concept of signature graphs which is a compact data structure describing available free-space of an environment.

The AdS3 propagator and the fate of locality

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We recently used Virasoro symmetry considerations to propose an exact formula for a bulk proto-field ϕ in AdS3. In this paper we study the propagator 〈ϕϕ〉.

High $$P_T$$ P T Higgs excess as a signal of non-local QFT at the LHC

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
Non-local extensions of the Standard Model with a non-locality scale $$\varLambda _{NL}$$ Λ NL have the effect of smearing the pointlike vertices of the Standard Model.

Systemic effects of local radiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesThe Lancet Oncology, 2009
Radiotherapy is generally used to treat a localised target that includes cancer. Increasingly, evidence indicates that radiotherapy recruits biological effectors outside the treatment field and has systemic effects. We discuss the implications of such effects and the role of the immune system in standard cytotoxic treatments.

The Precedence Effect in Sound Localization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, 2014
In ordinary listening environments, acoustic signals reaching the ears directly from real sound sources are followed after a few milliseconds by early reflections arriving from nearby surfaces. Early reflections are spectrotemporally similar to their source signals but commonly carry spatial acoustic cues unrelated to the source location.
