Local Sylow theory of totally disconnected, locally compact groups [PDF]
We define a local Sylow subgroup of a totally disconnected, locally compact group G to be a maximal pro-p subgroup of an open compact subgroup of G. We use these subgroups to define the p-localisation of G, a locally virtually pro-p group which maps ...

Topological groups: local versus global
It is well known that locally compact groups are paracompact. We observe that this theorem can be generalized as follows: every locally paracompact group is paracompact. We prove a more general version of this statement using quotients.

A property of the lamplighter group
We show that the inert subgroups of the lamplighter group fall into exactly five commensurability classes. The result is then connected with the theory of totally disconnected locally compact groups and with algebraic entropy.

Symmetry and nonsymmetry for locally compact groups
AbstractThe class [S] of locally compact groups G is considered, for which the algebra L1(G) is symmetric (=Hermitian). It is shown that [S] is stable under semidirect compact extensions, i.e., H ϵ [S] and K compact implies K ×s H ϵ [S]. For connected solvable Lie groups inductive conditions for symmetry are given.

Strategies achieving high‐energy‐density aqueous zinc‐ion batteries are summarized and analyzed from both their separate advancements and the integrated effectiveness in this review. Then, perspectives are given for valuable guidance for further development of high‐energy‐density aqueous zinc‐ion batteries.

Toward Zero‐Excess Alkali Metal Batteries: Bridging Experimental and Computational Insights
This review explores zero‐excess alkali metal batteries, highlighting anode–electrolyte interfaces, metal nucleation, dendrite growth, and SEI formation while comparing Li, Na, and K metals. It critically examines electrolyte and separator roles, emphasizing substrate design, electrolyte modifications, interfacial engineering, and solid‐state ...

Quantum double of a (locally) compact group
We generalise the quantum double construction of Drinfel'd to the case of the (Hopf) algebra of suitable functions on a compact or locally compact group. We will concentrate on the *-algebra structure of the quantum double.

On continuity of measurable group representations and homomorphisms [PDF]
Let G be a locally compact group, and let U be its unitary representation on a Hilbert space H. Endow the space L(H) of linear bounded operators on H with weak operator topology. We prove that if U is a measurable map from G to L(H) then it is continuous.
