Locally Presentable and Accessible Categories

1994
The concepts of a locally presentable category and an accessible category have turned out to be useful in formulating connections between universal algebra, model theory, logic and computer science. The aim of this book is to provide an exposition of both the theory and the applications of these categories at a level accessible to graduate students ...

Locally α-presentable and locally α-generated categories

1971
The notions of a locally α-presentable and locally α-generated categories are introduced, where α is a regular cardinal. The properties of these categories are studied extensively, in particular their close relationship with other types of categories.

On an Essentially Algebraic Theory for Locally Presentable Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 2006
The paper presents the essentials of the author's dissertation. For \(\lambda\) a regular cardinal, the so-called locally \(\lambda\)-presentable categories are considered, i.e., cocomplete categories with a strong generator of \(\lambda\)-presentable objects. In case \(\lambda=\aleph_0\), these amount to locally finitely presentable categories.

On Generation and Implicit Partial Operations in Locally Presentable Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 1998
In categories of models of limit-theories (in effect, concrete locally presentable categories), the author describes the subobject, resp. strong (extremal) subobject, resp. regular subobject, generated by a set. There follow criteria for all monics (all epics) to be strong, for all strong monics to be coequalizers, and for all strong epics to be ...

On complete pure-injectivity in locally finitely presented categories

2016
Let C be a locally finitely presented additive category, and let E be a finitely presented pure-injective object of C. We prove that E has an indecomposable decomposition if and only if every pure epimorphic image of E is pure-injective if and only if the endomorphism ring of E is semiperfect.
