Unexpected properties of locally presentable categories

Algebra Universalis, 1990
Let \({\mathcal O}rd\) be the usual category of all ordinals and \({\mathcal G}ra\) the category of all graphs \([=binary\) relations]. The statement that \({\mathcal O}rd\) cannot be fully embedded into \({\mathcal G}ra\) is called Vopěnka's principle.

Concretely Locally Presentable and Locally Generated Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 2001
The author gives some new versions of the characterizations of locally presentable categories as categories of models of limit or essentially algebraic theories. Analogous results for locally generated categories are obtained as well.

Locally Presentable and Accessible Categories

1994
The concepts of a locally presentable category and an accessible category have turned out to be useful in formulating connections between universal algebra, model theory, logic and computer science. The aim of this book is to provide an exposition of both the theory and the applications of these categories at a level accessible to graduate students ...

Locally α-presentable and locally α-generated categories

1971
The notions of a locally α-presentable and locally α-generated categories are introduced, where α is a regular cardinal. The properties of these categories are studied extensively, in particular their close relationship with other types of categories.
