TFR-LRC: Rack-Optimized Locally Repairable Codes: Balancing Fault Tolerance, Repair Degree, and Topology Awareness in Distributed Storage Systems

open access: yesInformation
Locally Repairable Codes (LRCs) have become the dominant design in wide-stripe erasure coding storage systems due to their excellent locality and low repair bandwidth.

On the Combinatorics of Locally Repairable Codes via Matroid Theory

open access: yes, 2016
This paper provides a link between matroid theory and locally repairable codes (LRCs) that are either linear or more generally almost affine. Using this link, new results on both LRCs and matroid theory are derived.

Partial MDS Codes with Local Regeneration

open access: yes, 2020
Partial MDS (PMDS) and sector-disk (SD) codes are classes of erasure codes that combine locality with strong erasure correction capabilities. We construct PMDS and SD codes where each local code is a bandwidth-optimal regenerating MDS code.

Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.

Bounds on Binary Locally Repairable Codes Tolerating Multiple Erasures

open access: yes, 2018
Recently, locally repairable codes has gained significant interest for their potential applications in distributed storage systems. However, most constructions in existence are over fields with size that grows with the number of servers, which makes the ...

On Sequential Locally Repairable Codes

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the locally repairable codes (LRC), aiming at sequential recovering multiple erasures. We define the (n,k,r,t)-SLRC (Sequential Locally Repairable Codes) as an [n,k] linear code where any t'(>= t) erasures can be sequentially recovered, each one by r (2<=r=3 erasures and bounds to evaluate the performance of such codes.

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Optimal Linear and Cyclic Locally Repairable Codes over Small Fields

open access: yes, 2015
We consider locally repairable codes over small fields and propose constructions of optimal cyclic and linear codes in terms of the dimension for a given distance and length.

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Duality between erasures and defects

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate the duality of the binary erasure channel (BEC) and the binary defect channel (BDC). This duality holds for channel capacities, capacity achieving schemes, minimum distances, and upper bounds on the probability of failure to retrieve the ...
