Performance Evaluation of an Earthquake Early Warning System in the 2019–2020 M6.0 Changning, Sichuan, China, Seismic Sequence

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
China is currently building a nationwide earthquake early warning system (EEWS) which will be completed in June 2023. Several regions have been selected as pilot areas for instrumentation, software system and dissemination verification. For these regions,

Location Accuracy Improvement of Long-range Lightning Detection Network In China by Compensating Ground Wave Propagation Delay

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Very low frequency (VLF) electromagnetic waves distort along the long propagation path, and that causes the arrival time of the signals measured by the long-range lightning system to be delayed.

Mutualism promotes site selection in a large marine planktivore

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Mutualism is a form of symbiosis whereby both parties benefit from the relationship. An example is cleaning symbiosis, which has been observed in terrestrial and marine environments.

Development of a low-frequency magnetic lightning mapping system (LFM-LMS) in North China: validation and preliminary results

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2023
A low-frequency magnetic lightning mapping system (LFM-LMS) was built during the SHAndong Triggered Lightning Experiment (SHATLE), based on continuous measurements of magnetic field radiation from lightning.

Dual Sagnac Interferometer Distributed Optical Fiber Localization Method Based on Hilbert–Huang Transform

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
In order to solve the problem that the dual Mach Zehnder (M-Z) interferometer system is easily affected by external environmental noise, a data signal-processing scheme based on Hilbert–Huang transform (HHT) is proposed to achieve high-precision location

Preliminary Application of Long-Range Lightning Location Network with Equivalent Propagation Velocity in China

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The equivalent propagation method adopts a variable propagation velocity in lightning location, minimizing the location error caused by various factors in the long-range lightning location network. To verify the feasibility of this method, we establish a

High-Accuracy Reference-Free Ultrasonic Location Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2012
This paper presents a novel reference-free ultrasonic indoor location system. Unlike most previous proposals, the mobile device (MD) determines its own position based only on ultrasonic signals received at a compact sensor array and sent by a fixed independent beacon. No radio frequency or wired timing reference signal is used.
