High-Accuracy Reference-Free Ultrasonic Location Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2012
This paper presents a novel reference-free ultrasonic indoor location system. Unlike most previous proposals, the mobile device (MD) determines its own position based only on ultrasonic signals received at a compact sensor array and sent by a fixed independent beacon. No radio frequency or wired timing reference signal is used.

Location prediction based on a sector snapshot for location-based services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In location-based services (LBSs), the service is provided based on the users' locations through location determination and mobility realization. Most of the current location prediction research is focused on generalized location models, where the ...

TDOA Location Accuracy Experiment

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract TDOA-based wireless signal location technology has been extensively used in engineering applications. Due to the lack of quantitative TDOA location accuracy index benchmark, there is the absence of reference basis in the development of TDOA application system indicators and performance evaluation.

Location accuracy limitations for CCD cameras [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2001
The accurate measurement of the position of celestial objects is a fundamental step forseveral astrophysical investigations. For ground based instruments, the atmosphere is considered the basic limiting factor; in space, the knowlwdge of the instrumental parameters and/or their stability define the performance limits, but CCD cameras operated in time ...

Evidence that indirect inhibition of saccade initiation improves saccade accuracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Saccadic eye-movements to a visual target are less accurate if there are distracters close to its location (local distracters). The addition of more distracters, remote from the target location (remote distracters), invokes an involuntary increase in the

Location accuracy of long distance VLF lightning locationnetwork [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2004
An experimental VLF WorldWide Lightning Location (WWLL) network is being developed to provide realtime locations of cloud to ground lightning discharges occurring throughout the globe. This network has expanded from a limited number of stations in the
