Non-line-of-sight Node Localization based on Semi-Definite Programming in Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2009
An unknown-position sensor can be localized if there are three or more anchors making time-of-arrival (TOA) measurements of a signal from it. However, the location errors can be very large due to the fact that some of the measurements are from non-line ...

Location estimation accuracy in wireless sensor networks [PDF]

open access: yesConference Record of the Thirty-Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002., 2003
The peer-to-peer nature of a wireless sensor network presents the opportunity for accurate and low-configuration sensor location estimation. Range measurements are made between pairs of sensors, regardless of their a priori coordinate knowledge. This paper quantifies via the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) variance limits on location estimators which use ...

Influence of Release Parameters on Pitch Location in Skilled Baseball Pitching

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living, 2020
This study explored the mechanical factors that determine accuracy of a baseball pitching. In particular, we focused on the mechanical parameters at ball release, referred to as release parameters.

Olfactory Orientation and Navigation in Humans. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although predicted by theory, there is no direct evidence that an animal can define an arbitrary location in space as a coordinate location on an odor grid. Here we show that humans can do so. Using a spatial match-to-sample procedure, humans were led to

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Improving Room-Level Location for Indoor Trajectory Tracking with Low IPS Accuracy

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2021
With the development of indoor positioning methods, such as Wi-Fi positioning, geomagnetic sensor positioning, Ultra-Wideband positioning, and pedestrian dead reckoning, the area of location-based services (LBS) is expanding from outdoor to indoor spaces.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Empirical analysis and modeling of Argos Doppler location errors in Romania [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2019
Background Advances in wildlife tracking technology have allowed researchers to understand the spatial ecology of many terrestrial and aquatic animal species. Argos Doppler is a technology that is widely used for wildlife tracking owing to the small size

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
