Discrimination in autism as measured by minimal group and sheer difference experiments

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Autistic individuals often show fewer social biases than neurotypical people. Whether they show fewer discriminatory tendencies is however unclear. The present study examined discriminatory tendencies in autistic versus neurotypical individuals in the minimal group paradigm and the novel ‘sheer difference’ paradigm.

Connections between the basic local independence model and true and error models in the study of preference

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Two classes of probabilistic models are compared: the true and error (TE) type models and models in the family of the basic local independence model (BLIM). The former finds applications in the study of human preference, whereas the latter has been developed within the theory of knowledge structures with the aim of producing knowledge ...

Edge‐preserving noise for diffusion models

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Classical diffusion models typically rely on isotropic Gaussian noise, treating all regions uniformly and overlooking structural information important for high‐quality generation. We introduce an edge‐preserving diffusion process that generalizes isotropic models via a hybrid noise scheme with an edge‐aware scheduler that smoothly transitions ...

Product heterogeneity, price index bias, and their link to provincial urban size: Evidence from urban China's beverage market

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Agricultural Economics/Revue canadienne d'agroeconomie, EarlyView.
Abstract Conventional price indexes partially address product heterogeneity. This paper considers the variety and quality of products in each market, the combination of region and year, and constructs panel price indexes using household scanner data on non‐alcoholic beverages in urban China.

Reindustrialization meets rural reality: The limits of foreign direct investment‐led development

open access: yesContemporary Economic Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract As industrial policy drives new waves of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the U.S., rural areas are becoming key destinations. Using synthetic control, difference‐in‐differences, and propensity score matching, I examine whether rural FDI translates job growth into higher incomes.
