Connecting depth limits of interseismic locking, microseismicity, and large earthquakes in models of long-term fault slip [PDF]
Thickness of the seismogenic zone is commonly determined based on the depth of microseismicity or the fault locking depth inferred from geodetic observations.

Narrow line width frequency comb source based on an injection-locked III–V-on-silicon mode-locked laser [PDF]
In this paper, we report the optical injection locking of an L-band (similar to 1580 nm) 4.7 GHz III-V-on-silicon mode-locked laser with a narrow line width continuous wave (CW) source. This technique allows us to reduce the MHz optical line width of the

This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Non-Gaussian stochastic dynamical model for the El Niño southern oscillation
A nonautonomous stochastic dynamical model approach is developed to describe the seasonal to interannual variability of the El Niño southern oscillation (ENSO).

Pulse forming in an AM mode-locking hybrid TEA-CO2 laser [PDF]
We performed an experimental study on the pulse forming mechanism in an AM mode-locked hybrid TEA-CO2 laser by means of “injection mode-locking”. The results show that bandwidth limited pulses will only be reached within a small - critical - range of ...

Depth determination of defects in CFRP-structures using lock-in thermography
Abstract Due to the increasing application of CFRP in mass application, an economic repair process gains importance. As the typical repair process starts with the defect detection, the accuracy of the measurement system is a limiting factor of the repair process. Lock-in thermography is a promising approach for non-destructive defect detection. Since

Slip rate and locking depth from GPS profiles across the southern Dead Sea Transform [PDF]
The Dead Sea Transform is a major strike‐slip fault bounding the Arabia plate and the Sinai subplate. On the basis of two GPS campaign measurements, 6 years apart, at 17 sites distributed in Israel and Jordan, complemented by Israeli permanent stations, we compute the present‐day deformation across the southern segment of the Dead Sea Transform, the ...

This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Multi-megawatt, self-seeded Mamyshev oscillator
We demonstrate a fiber oscillator that achieves 3 MW peak power, is easily started and is environmentally stable. The Mamyshev oscillator delivers 190-nJ pulses that can be compressed externally to 35 fs duration.
