Chemosensory proteins of Locusta migratoria
Insect Molecular Biology, 2003Abstract Two different classes of chemosensory proteins (CSPs) in Locusta migratoria have been identified on the basis of the molecular cloning of a series of different cDNAs from the antennae of this insect.

Cuticle protein in Locusta migratoria
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. The total protein content and the soluble proteins of the cuticle of male fifth instar and newly moulted adult locusts were analysed. 2. 2. Protein was deposited in cuticle in a stepwise manner whereas chitin deposition was continuous. 3. 3. Resorption of cuticular protein preceded resorption of chitin following apolysis.

A neurosecretory protein from Locusta migratoria
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1980Abstract A neurosecretory protein from brains and corpora cardiaca from adult locusts was isolated and purified by a combination of anion-exchange chromatography and gel filtration. The preparation of antiserum against this protein enabled its localization by histoimmunochemical methods.

Effect of Substrates' Compliance on the Jumping Mechanism of Locusta migratoria [PDF]
Locusts generally live and move in complex environments including different kind of substrates, ranging from compliant leaves to stiff branches. Since the contact force generates deformation of the substrate, a certain amount of energy is dissipated each time when locust jumps from a compliant substrate.

Identification of a diuretic hormone of Locusta migratoria
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991We have isolated a peptide from brains and corpora cardiaca of Locusta migratoria which is immunologically related to the diuretic hormone of Manduca sexta. We determined its structure as a 46 amino acid linear peptide with 43-50% identity to the M. sexta hormone. Moreover, we showed that the new peptide functions as a diuretic hormone in L. migratoria,

Chiasma distribution in asynaptic Locusta migratoria
Chromosoma, 1981The formation of chiasmata in six full sib male partially asynaptic individuals of Locusta migratoria has been studied. The mean chiasma frequency per cell was 2.3 both at diplotene and metaphase I. Chiasmata tended to be distributed evenly among the bivalents.

Ultrastructure of the colon of Locusta migratoria
Journal of Morphology, 1985AbstractThe ultrastructure of the colon of Locusta migratoria is described. The colon is lined by a thick cuticle that, for the most part, adheres to the underlying epithelium. The cuboid epithelial cells are characterized by moderate invaginations of the apical and, to a lesser extent, basal plasma membranes; the lateral plasma membranes are ...

Purification and characterization of Locusta migratoria chymotrypsin
International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1988A chymotrypsin‐like enzyme (CTLE) was isolated from the digestive tract of the African migratory locust Locusta migratoria migratorioides by ion‐exchange chromatography on diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) cellulose followed by affinity chromatography on phenylbutylamine (PBA) Sepharose.
