Genetics of lodging-resistance in wheat
Knowledge on the inheritance of lodging-resistance is of great value for the development of new wheat varieties (Triticum aestivum L.). Crosses among four different bread wheat genotypes were evaluated in the field. The analysis was based on three fixed (P 1, P2 and F1) and three segregant (F 2, BC1F1 and BC2F1) generations.

Towards improving drought resistance and lodging resistance in cotton [PDF]
AbstractCotton is one of the most important fiber and oil crop in the world and the fiber yield as well as quality traits are negatively affected by drought and lodging. Improving root gravitropism is a very effective way to enhance the crop resistance to drought and lodging stresses.

Lodging resistance of modern domestic rice varieties
Abstract Lodging is a complex process that expresses the plant’s response to environmental factors. The main direction of breeding grain crops is to increase yields and improve the grain quality indicators. For the plants to form the maximum yield, it is necessary to develop varieties with a high potential for productivity and quality ...

DARLING: a device for assessing resistance to lodging in grain crops [PDF]
Stalk lodging (breakage of plant stems prior to harvest) is a major problem for both farmers and plant breeders. A limiting factor in addressing this problem is the lack of a reliable method for phenotyping stalk strength. Previous methods of phenotyping stalk strength induce failure patterns different from those observed in natural lodging events ...

Identification of a Major Locus for Lodging Resistance to Typhoons Using QTL Analysis in Rice
We detected a new target quantitative trait locus (QTL) for lodging resistance in rice by analyzing lodging resistance to typhoons (Maysak and Haishen) using a scale from 0 (no prostrating) to 1 (little prostrating or prostrating) to record the ...

Dissecting the complex regulation of lodging resistance in Brassica napus [PDF]
Lodging continues to be a major cause of yield loss in important crop species such as Brassica napus. Understanding the genetic regulation of lodging resistance is therefore of key interest to breeders worldwide. Current strategies aimed at minimising lodging risk involve the incorporation of dwarfing genes or the application of plant growth regulators.
