The beta log-normal distribution

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2013
For the first time, we introduce the beta log-normal (LN) distribution for which the LN distribution is a special case. Various properties of the new distribution are discussed. Expansions for the cumulative distribution and density functions that do not involve complicated functions are derived.

Hearing Impairment and the Log-Normal Distribution

Applied Statistics, 1996
SUMMARY Data on hearing impairment are studied by using a three-parameter log-normal distribution, all of whose parameters depend on covariates. The fitting algorithm is an extension of generalized linear modelling. Questions for research include the estimation of a base-line distribution of hearing threshold levels for an 'unexposed' population and ...

Log-normal distributions in parasitology

Proceedings: Animal Sciences, 1984
A uniform log-normal pattern of frequency distribution of cestodes and nematodes in poikilothermic and homeothermic hosts from Garhwal Himalayan ecosystems by size and weight classes during infection period indicates subtle relationship to the range of variation in the earth’s environment.

The log-normal distribution function

Journal of Chemical Education, 1972
The log-normal distribution function is a useful function that could be profitably introduced to the undergraduate and used more frequently in chemical research because of its relatively simple analytical form and the diverse physical mechanisms and models that can generate it.

Tail of the distribution of sums of log-normal variates

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1970
It is shown that the asymptotic behavior of the tail of the sum distribution of a finite number of individually log-normal distributed variates displays the log-normal character of those variates with maximum logarithmic variance. A quantitative definition of the sum-distribution "tail" is established in terms of upper bounds on the relative error or ...
