Mechanisms for log normal concentration distributions in the environment [PDF]
AbstractLog normal-like concentration distributions are ubiquitously observed in the environment. However, the mechanistic origins are not well understood. In this paper, we show that first order exponential kinetics onsets log-normal concentration distributions, under certain assumptions.

Although the literature on the a priori procedure, designed to help researchers determine the sample sizes they should use in their substantive research, is expanding rapidly, there are two important limitations.

Investigating the Effect of Distribution Function and Potential Evapotranspiration Assessment Method in Determining Reconnaissance Drought Index [PDF]
Iran is located in arid and semi-arid regions in the world and therefore, drought monitoring has an important role in there. Drought assessment is conventionally based on drought indices such as Reconnaissance Drought Index (RDI).

Discriminating between the Weibull and log‐normal distributions [PDF]
AbstractLog‐normal and Weibull distributions are the most popular distributions for modeling skewed data. In this paper, we consider the ratio of the maximized likelihood in choosing between the two distributions. The asymptotic distribution of the logarithm of the maximized likelihood ratio has been obtained.

In this study, we consider an alternative to the log-skew-normal distribution. It is called the modified log-skew-normal distribution and introduces greater flexibility in the skewness and kurtosis parameters.

Fragile extended phases in the log-normal Rosenzweig-Porter model [PDF]
In this paper we suggest an extension of the Rosenzweig-Porter (RP) model, the LN-RP model, in which the off-diagonal matrix elements have a wide, log-normal distribution.

Maximum discharge and probable rainfall at Aiuruoca basin, Minas Gerais State
Research on rainfall and annual daily maximum discharge rates is essential to support decisions during the design of hydraulic structures. This study tested the adequacy of probability functions to predict the probable rainfall and discharge rates of the
