Hypercontractivity of quasi-free quantum semigroups

open access: yes, 2014
Hypercontractivity of a quantum dynamical semigroup has strong implications for its convergence behavior and entropy decay rate. A logarithmic Sobolev inequality and the corresponding logarithmic Sobolev constant can be inferred from the semigroup's ...

Small-x single-particle distributions in jets from the coherent branching formalism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We calculate single parton distributions inside quark and gluon jets within the coherent branching formalism, which resums leading and next-to-leading logarithmic contributions.

Degenerate self-similar measures, spectral asymptotics and small deviations of Gaussian processes

open access: yes, 2010
We find the logarithmic small ball asymptotics for the $L_2$-norm with respect to a degenerate self-similar measures of a certain class of Gaussian processes including Brownian motion, Ornstein - Uhlenbeck process and their integrated counterparts ...

ILN-SSR: Improved Logarithmic Norm and Sparse Structure Refinement for Infrared Small Target Detection

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The effective discrimination of targets from backgrounds in environments characterized by a low signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) is paramount for the advancement of infrared small target detection (IRSTD).

Cardinal Interpolation with Gaussian Kernels

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, interpolation by scaled multi-integer translates of Gaussian kernels is studied. The main result establishes $L_p$ Sobolev error estimates and shows that the error is controlled by the $L_p$ multiplier norm of a Fourier multiplier closely ...

A lower bound for the L_2[-1,1]-norm of the logarithmic derivative of polynomials with zeros on the unit circle

open access: yesПроблемы анализа, 2019
Let C be the unit circle {z: |z| = 1} and Qn(z) bean arbitrary C-polynomial (i. e., all its zeros z1, . . ., zn ∈ C). We prove that the norm of the logarithmic derivative Q′n/Qn in the complex space L_2[−1,1] is greater than 1/8.

Approximate Near Neighbors for General Symmetric Norms

open access: yes, 2017
We show that every symmetric normed space admits an efficient nearest neighbor search data structure with doubly-logarithmic approximation. Specifically, for every $n$, $d = n^{o(1)}$, and every $d$-dimensional symmetric norm $\|\cdot\|$, there exists a ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Approximate Methods for Solving Linear and Nonlinear Hypersingular Integral Equations

open access: yesAxioms, 2020
We propose an iterative projection method for solving linear and nonlinear hypersingular integral equations with non-Riemann integrable functions on the right-hand sides.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
