Research on shock wave mitigation in channels has been a topic of much attention in the shock wave community. One approach to attenuate an incident shock wave is to use obstacles of various geometries arranged in different patterns. This work is inspired

The Elliptic Logarithmic Spiral—a New Curve [PDF]
IF, in an elastic system with one degree of freedom, and friction proportional to the velocity, the relation of the “free” force to the displacement be considered, an interesting curve results.

Variety of unsymmetric multibranched logarithmic vortex spirals
Building on work of Prandtl and Alexander, we study logarithmic vortex spiral solutions of the two-dimensional incompressible Euler equations. We consider multi-branched spirals that are not symmetric, including mixtures of sheets and continuum vorticity.

Logarithmic spirals in 2d perfect fluids
We study logarithmic spiraling solutions to the 2d incompressible Euler equations which solve a nonlinear transport system on $\mathbb{S}$. We show that this system is locally well-posed in $L^p, p\geq 1$ as well as for atomic measures, that is ...

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

Applying the Model of a Normal Logarithmic Spiral to Galaxies [PDF]
The characteristic μ angles for the spirals of 6 multi-arm galaxies (NGC 1232, 5247, 4303, 4321, 3938, 3184) have been determined. It has been found that they vary along spiral arms within a rather large interval, with mean square deviations ranging from 4° to 20°.

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Numerical Method for Computing Seismic Slip-Line Fields and Earth Pressure Coefficients in Cohesionless Backfills [PDF]
This study introduced a novel numerical method for calculating seismic slip-line fields and earth pressure coefficients in cohesionless backfills with an inclined and rough retaining wall. By integrating the triangular slice method with the pseudo-static
