Where are the Logs?

open access: yes, 2022
The commonly quoted error rates for QMC integration with an infinite low discrepancy sequence is $O(n^{-1}\log(n)^r)$ with $r=d$ for extensible sequences and $r=d-1$ otherwise. Such rates hold uniformly over all $d$ dimensional integrands of Hardy-Krause variation one when using $n$ evaluation points.

Ergothioneine supplementation improves pup phenotype and survival in a murine model of spinal muscular atrophy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting motor neurons. Individuals with SMA experience mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of an antioxidant and neuroprotective substance, ergothioneine (ERGO), on an SMNΔ7 mouse model of SMA.

Pressure Response of a Horizontal Well in Tight Oil Reservoirs with Stimulated Reservoir Volume

open access: yesLithosphere, 2021
Stimulated reservoir volume is an effective stimulation measure and creates a complex fracture network, but the description and characterization of fracture network are very difficult.

Roadless space and logging in intact forest landscapes of the Congo Basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Forest degradation in tropical regions is often associated with roads built for selective logging. Forest areas that are not accessible by roads are considered valuable because they provide habitat that is not immediately impacted by major ...

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

The 'climates' of the logging industry : effects on safety, commitment, turnover, and accidents : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts (Soc. Sci.) in Psychology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
New Zealand's logging industry is one of the country's largest exporting industries. With increased global competition and demands, work environments like the logging industry are finding that problems such as accidents and turnover rates are ...

From lactation to malignancy: A comparison between healthy and cancerous breast gland at single‐cell resolution reveals new issues for tumorigenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

Full-Scale Numerical Simulation for Cross-Dipole Acoustic Logging Transducer

open access: yesCejing jishu
The cross-dipole acoustic logging transducer is a key component of multipole acoustic logging tools. Its frequency response and directive property directly affect the quality of dipole acoustic logging data and the accuracy of formation evaluation.

Multiple-use forest management in Central Africa: Perceptions, implementation and evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Although multiple-use forest management (MUFM) is supported by forestry laws in the Congo Basin countries, this approach remains confused, misunderstood and little implemented.

Relative Contributions of the Logging, Fiber, Oil Palm, and Mining Industries to Forest Loss in Indonesia

open access: yes, 2015
Indonesia contributes significantly to deforestation in Southeast Asia. However, much uncertainty remains over the relative contributions of various forest‐exploiting sectors to forest losses in the country.
