Combinational Logic Circuits

1988
Digital devices operate on a binary number system, making it possible to use Boolean algebra as a method of analysis and design of digital circuits. The expressions may be implemented using logic gates in various combinations (small-scale integration, SSI).

Combinational Logic Circuits

2002
In a digital system, the logic circuits can be divided into two classes: combinational and sequential. A combinational circuit uses logic gates only; a sequential circuit uses flip-flops (ffs) and logic gates. The discussion of ffs is left to the next chapter. Most of the flip-flops are synchronous.

Static Logic Circuits

1992
Logic functions are implemented in CMOS circuits by using MOSFETs to switch current flow paths. The static circuits in this chapter are commonly used for random logic functions, and also provide the basis for more advanced dynamic circuits. Static logic gates are the most widely used CMOS circuit because they are straightforward to design, have ...

Sequential Logic Circuits

1988
In combinational logic circuits the output levels at any instant are dependent purely on the levels present at the input at that time. In sequential logic circuits the output levels are dependent also on the previous states, and include some form of memory elements. The most widely used memory element is the flip-flop.

Digital Logic Circuits

1996
In chapter 1 we mentioned that logic gates were the basic building blocks of a digital computer. This chapter describes these gates and how they can be used to build useful circuits.
